Matt Hughes was 41-4 before he lost to GSP, 45-9 at his retirement and was considered to be the most dominant WW of all time until recently.

People on MMA sites struggle with this word for some reason.

Yeah, I didn't even catch it the first time reading. Thanks for the correction.

I know it's best to throw a comment in an old thread, but then you're less likely to receive any feedback. If a thread is a couple years old, new submissions or new people who didn't see that thread can chime in.

Assuming your comment was directed at me.

It looks like there are quite a few similiar threads..

You just lost 25 bucks. 1. Palhares is favorite on every site I've visited and 2. He's fighting Belcher.

Cupcake and Pitbull was good. Darkness and Pink Belt McGuire was good at the end. Would MM Torres count?

Did I miss a prelim or a facebook fight? That was sick...

I think it was a prelim fight. It was on fuel. Charles olivera vseric wisley. calf crusher was bad ass. awwesome move, hard as hell to pull off in mma. Its actually illegal in most grappling comps via the amount of real damage it can do.

That looks like he ripped his knee in half man... that guy made it out of the fight with his ACL intact ?

I meant Belcher, don't know why I wrote Simpson.

That's why I bet on him because he is a 4 to 1 underdog.... that's how you make money betting.

Palhares should be the favorite and has a better chance of winning, but I think 4 to 1 is a little extreme.

Belcher moves well and has good td defense, and his striking is much better than Palhares.

I misread your odds, I thought you were saying Belcher was a 4 to 1 favorite. My bad

GSP is more 'decorated' as a striker given his actual belts since he has never wrestled prior to MMA. However, he DOES use his grappling game threat to great effect. I haven't seen him rely solely on grappling in recent times (probably Hardy was the most recent where grappling was noticeably more used) since GSP mixes up things so well, and uses GnP when on the mat.

...

There are not a lot of submission grappling dmoinant fights in the top level of MMA today. Guys at the highest echelon have to be more well rounded to get and stay highly ranked.
