Should Rashad move to 185

Postby jboarder » Mon Apr 23, 2012 12:40 pm

It's been mentioned a while ago that Rashad could make the cut down to 185. Do you think career wise, going forward that this makes sense.
There are a lot more exciting fights for him in this weight class than at 205 in my opinion.

At 205 he would probably match up next with either Shogun or Machida. The UFC wouldn't put him against Gustafsson, as after Henderson, he would probably be next in line to fight Jones.

But at 185, he could really be in some exciting fights.

Makes a lot of sense to me, as if he was to fight Jones again, he would probably lose in an even worse manner.
I think everybody should just leave Lance Armstrong alone. I think what he achieved was incredible. When I was on drugs, I couldn't even find my fucking bike.

imo he's an automatic #2 MW, I'd take him over Chael, Munoz, Bisping, Vitor. A Silva is a different story, but you never know. Maybe he would have to lose some of that muscle tho, so he won't gas in later rounds.

Yes Rashad should move down. He is more well-rounded than a lot of the guys at that weight-class. Plus 85er's generally have less ko power than 205er's (minus AS of course), so Shad has a lesser chance of getting stanky-legged again (unless if he fights Anderson).

The only problem though is that Shad has a lot of muscle so the cut might take a lot out of him. But if Shad can make the cut healthily than Shad should definitely move down.

However, seeing as how Shad has been doing well at LHW and did a relatively decent job against Bones. I wouldn't be surprised if he stays at LHW.

If the cut doesn't hurt him, he is quite small by today's standards.

 hashad is better than EVERYONE at middle weight but Anderson. No he should not drop. He should do as he said and work his way back up and execute an actual game plan.

If he stays at LHW, he's pretty much number two.
If he moves to MW by making a healthy cut? He's top five, Vitor, Anderson, maybe Palhares would beat him.

Rashad would likely destroy Anderson IMO. If Sonnen can take him down that easily Rashad can too.

Why should he? He looked great fighting everyone except for Machida and he's the only fighter to survive 5 rounds against Jones (both of these fights were title fights). I believe that if he works his way to the title shot, this time around he may pull out something against Jones because all the animosity and the awkwardness should be gone.

there is more to winning a fight than just taking a fighter down....i mean, the only reason you brought up anderson is because he is still champ. which means despite being taken down by sonnen (and plenty of other fighters) he still won.

rashad doesnt have the gas tank to go 5 rounds competitively with silva and thats before cutting weight. his speed advantage vanishes completely...he'd get KTFO.

Rashad would be in limbo as the #2 at MW also. He's trapped in the Fitch zone.
Might as well enjoy the carbs.
