Heavyweight Title Still On The Line in May-2012

ImageWhether he fights Alistair Overeem or not, Junior Dos Santos will still be in the cage on May 26th according to UFC President Dana White who confirmed the current heavyweight champion will still be action today.

Who Dos Santos will defend the title against is up in the air at this point while the UFC waits on word from NSAC regarding Alistair Overeem and his standing. Overeem failed a pre-fight drug test administered last week by the NSAC.

Frank Mir has been pegged as an early replacement while fans have also thrown support behind Mark Hunt who is currently on a three fight win streak. Fedor Emelianenko has also seen support from fans on message boards and Twitter, though the likelihood of that happening is higher than Overeem's T/E ratio.

Overeem's "A" sample came back with a T/E ratio will over the 6:1 limit allowed by the NSAC and now results from the "B" sample will likely determine the out come of whether or not Overeem will be allowed to fight at UFC 146.

Regardless of his "B" sample, he still got popped for steroids and shouldn't be fighting for the title.

He got popped for high levels of testosterone - same shit as Marquardt and Chael.

Yeah, but should he still get to fight for the title? As we've seen, Chael had to work his way back to a title shot, and Marquardt is no longer with the UFC.

Hope to god the Overeem fight pulls through, you don't realize what you've got until you haven't got it anymore.

A sample and B sample come from the exact same urine cup, that being said,
I have a friend that several years ago did a blood test and sample A came HIV positive and sample B came negative, long story short, after much psychological trauma and at least 4 more tests he was in fact negative.

There is a chance that B sample comes negative or "inconclusive" it has happen before let's just see how this will play out.

While I have always thought Overeem was using (and still liked him in spite of that), it is a scientific certainty that false positive tests happen, so a clean (by some miracle) B sample should exonerate Overeem and the dirty A sample. The same way a TD is negated by someone scrambling up right away or getting a reversal/sub attempt/doing damage.

If (BIG IF) Overeem somehow gets cleared and licensed I think he should be allowed to fight JDS. Right now that fight makes the most sense for both guys...it will almost certainly prove how 'for real' or 'legit' both men really are in the HW division.

That's turning a big blind eye IMO. If he tests clean then so be it but if he fails and gets licensed by some technicality it makes a mockery of the sport. Think about it leaving personal bias and fighter preference out of it.

Mir would be stupid to stand up with him , but if it went to ground it'd be a whole other ball game

And how does he get it there? With his abysmally bad takedowns? Not likely.

Exhibition fight between JDS and Mighty Mouse would be cool to fill up the spot. Will probably take ten minutes for JDS to finally catch that damn mouse, should be entertaining!
Thank God should be banned in the pre and post fight speeches.
Marloes Coenen should be in the UFC.
