Cung Le - Underappreciated ?

Postby rattlestick » Mon Apr 02, 2012 6:27 am

I was just thinking how talented this guy is....based purely on skill, i believe his timing and technique are some of the best in MMA.

(the only weakness in his game is prob. BJJ)

If only he had a good chin and more power - he could be a god.

He's entertaining but needs to work on his cardio and cut down on those flashy kicks

Those flashy kicks carry a shitload of power with them. No one has a better spinning back kick in mma than cung. His 360 kick is insanely powerful and can cover ALOT of distance.

yea I know they carry alot of power, but they also take a hit on ur gas tank hence why I said that he needs to tone em down a notch

Cung has had his record padded by many "canz"...more so than even what was going on at EliteXC with Kimbo. He's so lucky the Belfort fight fell through. He was that close to being killed. He might be able to beat an undercard guy in the UFC, but with Cung's name value, I think they will give him Leban when he's off suspension..Leben will massacre Cung.

Agreed. And he can time them too.... Can't think of anyone who has landed more of these in a given fight.

you're right but i think he gets destroyed because of his chin and lack of power. his technique is on a different level. i think there are very few strikers in MMA on that skill level

I really like Le but like its been said his cardio is lacking. He is always fun to watch though. I think if he concentrated more on MMA it would serve him well however his age is quickly becoming a factor. When you become set in your ways its very difficult to evolve. You hear this a lot about other fighters but I truly would like to see him drop a weight class. He could do it if he dedicated himself but I don't think its there. I'll still support him even if he will never be elite.

10 years ago he had both those things and was incredible, look at some of his old sanda fights, absolutely awesome

Yeah I've had the opportunity to watch a few of those San Shou fights.... I remember him totally dominating the standup and tossing people around too with amazing throws... if i'm not mistaken he was undefeated?

What for his acting? Your not looking at his fighting career your looking at his promotional career. His career in MMA fighting took less time than for you to write this post.
