Whether you like what he is saying or not, he is right ? Justify however we want, but it is the truth. I hope they do come out with a yearly package on cable, and I think in time they will.

Funny how managers tell others, that stealing PPVs puts workers at risk or reduces fighter pay.

CRAP!!!

If lets say 20% of people that stoped watching streams would buy ppvs (what we don´t know, because you can not say that 1000 pirate viewers would also buy that event, could even be zero ppv sales), I highly doubt, that staff salary or fighter paychecks would go up 20%.

Dana uses the "fighter pay" argument, or that talking about "fans" in the UK, because it is what fans talk about. It is a business and if more people buy ppvs, the only thing happening is that the margin gets bigger, and he makes more cash for the Fertitas.

Maybe 5% of the mony would be splitt and passed down, so Dana, fuck off.
You might be right, but I am righter!

I pirate AND pay for UFC's depending on how stacked the card is.

It becomes quite expensive when you're just an average person who just wants to watch them on his own with his girlfriend or whatever. 60 bones (plus tax) is a lot to drop on 1 PPV.

If they had some kind of membership deal where I got to see every UFC that year for a $$$ deal, id jump on that but.... Fuck you Dana I can't afford paying for every fucking PPV like I want to!

It's not really better to watch with people I know, my Friends are all hockey derps...and fuck watching it at the bar. The people pirating like that really are the fans! Help a brother out, make that shit affordable for 1 person.

Piracy isn't Stealing.

So, pirates in the 16th Century made illegal copies of all the loot? How does that work?

PPV events are too expensive... I stopped watching mma in 2010 because of the price and missed it for a while but I've gotten used to it and now only periodically check up on the mma world.

The only people that watch streams are those who can't afford the PPV. The quality alone is enough punishment, and that's not including having to listen to Goldberg's nonsense, White's propaganda, or frikin Corn Nutz ads. Additionally, I'm pretty certain that watching a stream is legal, but uploading/hosting the stream is illegal. Also, this is only hurting the UFC - it makes it look bad. Their losing a lot of fans who stream as a last resort that would otherwise pitch in w/ a small group or go to a bar.

An old buddy of mine used to pirate nearly everything he had on his computer. He said the best anti-piracy message he ever heard was Tenacious D's sincere plea to don't pirate their music so they could spend more time making sick tunes for the fans. Maybe if Dana didn't pay the majority of their fighters 1/1000 of what they could/should pay them it would discourage people from pirating, but we all know that the money will just go straight to White & the Fertita bros. If the money went to the real entertainers and makers of the sport (the FIGHTERS!) then perhaps people would feel more inclined to get the PPV over a stream. But even given all the right circumstances, things wouldn't change much, as, like I said before, pretty much everyone that watches a stream only does so because they can't afford the PPV.

I wonder how many people would like to have their stuff stolen? I think Dana is an idiot usually but on this issue he has a right to be pissed. Why is it wrong for him to get mad for some people paying for the PPV and other people not paying? Given the amount of UFC events there are per year there should not be any reason to pirate them. In 2011 there were 27 UFC events, some of them free, but lets say they all were $60 a piece. Now thats $1620. I would say the average person spends 3-5 times that much on fast food. Quit complaining.

Yeah but if I'm spending all that money on UFC cards, how the fuck am I supposed to get my Taco Bell?!

Didn't think about that did you.

Have you tried the new doritos tacos? They are pretty darn good.

I actually haven't. I'm pretty loyal to the Baja Chicken Chalupas, but hey, I'll give those a try. Especially considering they're pretty cheap from what I remember.

Once consumers start to suffer just as much as the professionals whose pension plans will start suffering from piracy--maybe they'll stop stealing.

yeah....and dana's really, really hurting financially.
robin hood started this all.
deal with it.
why would you side with the king?

totally missing the point, dude. it's not about Dana. It's about the creative individuals who produce a product that we steal on the internet. Where do you think retirement/pension plans come from? Residuals. Without residuals, no benefits for these directors, assistant directors, unit production managers, etc. When we steal from the internet, those who create are missing out on residual income generated.

And whoever said, "we've been doing it this long and we're fine." Key word is "we." As in the consumers who steal. What about the professionals who made a living off of what we stole? Hey, wanna go buy a Tower Records? Oh wait....we can't.

retirement/pension plans?
people actually believe that money is there for them, but by the time we'll be ready to collect, good luck.
it's pretty much disappearing with the current generation.

actually...we just had a "state of the guild" meeting two days ago. Our plans are in top notch and I know plenty of people in the entertainment industry who have had the privilege to retire happily. BUT...due to piracy, that will change unless something is done about it.

People are totally missing the point here. Piracy is wrong. Yeah, I used to do it...but not anymore. When I became educated on how my selfishness hurt the well-being of others...I stopped. I never preach it to my friends, and I told myself I wouldn't preach it on linker, but sometimes you just can't hold your tongue.

We lost the battle to stop piracy at the moment with the lies told about SOPA, but know that the head executives of every creative institution are going to find a way to stop it. WGA, DGA, SAG/AFTRA....all of them. I'm just glad Dana isn't the poster boy of the movement. lol

But honestly, I just don't get how people can say shoplifting and illegally downloading and streaming aren't the same thing.

Copyright is a government imposed monopoly on a pattern of information.

Piracy is coping information without paying for the right to copy it, its not stealing in any way shape or form, its coping.

acquiring a good that cost money to produce for free. that's stealing. Your gain at the expense of others. tangible or not, it's stealing. if it wasn't a problem...Creative America would not exist, and legislation to stop it would not be considered.

I wonder how you would feel if your father was the due paying director whose film or television show was pirated.
