I have to say that the people on both ends of that court are delusional. You can't have a real conversation about Chael or Anderson EVER.

But that isn't the fault of the fans...That's Chael Sonnen's fault. He's the one who turned all this into pantomime...It's hard to even remember who Chael is as a fighter these days and I think the way he has been since that last fight has made people either see him as a complete joke or inflate him to the level of GOAT. the truth is that he's neither. I don't have a problem with it mind you- I enjoy how un-serious the whole cherade is.

GOAT is about your career, not who you fight right now. Fedor is passed his prime and has been for a while, Silva and GSP are in the middle of theirs so the comparison is not a fair one. Are you talking about the best fighter RIGHT NOW, or the GOAT?

Also both Sylvia and AA were ranked top 5 when Fedor fought them in '08 and '09 :geek:

You can't blame Chael for Silva's fans being delusional lmao. Although you can probably blame him for his own fans.

Chael came out and dominated Silva for 4 rounds, and Silva's fans can't even admit it. And now if you try to discuss the upcoming fight all you hear is blah blah blah ribs, blah blah steroids, blah blah Brazil blah. When in all honesty my breakdown of this fight is the same as the first one (which was well documented BEFORE the fight).

Chael is very good where Silva is at his worst, wrestling. So Chael has a very good chance to take Silva down and punch him up and win a decision. Silva is very good, where Chael is at his worst, submissions. So Silva has a very good chance to catch Chael in a sub and win every time they are on the ground. Silva is great standing, but the threat of Chael's takedowns will neutralize that striking just enough so that Silva can't destroy Chael standing.

I think that is the perfect assessment of that fight, but the delusional fans on BOTH sides would disagree.

Anderson-Why anyone would want to hate on a champion that has been the most dominant in the UFC is beyond me.

Chael-Anyone who insults him due to his "shit-talking" is more delusional than they claim him to be if they actually think that he believes his own shit. Plus, anyone who criticizes him for his money laundering/TRT overload need to realize it's not the business of the fans. It's that of Anderson's, Chael's, NSAC's, and the people whose money he tried to take, so it's irrelevant to us.

Fedor-GOAT ever. Noone else can claim that they've done what Fedor has, which is compete in one of the top two organizations and go undefeated for 10 years while being a champion along the way.

Shogun-Why, because he tapped to strikes? How is that different from tapping to a sub? Because it's painful, yes? And you don't want to risk injury.

These four have the absolute most annoying haters.

Based on this sentence. Yes you are. And here is why.

If you don't think Fedor is the GOAT, that is fine. Arguments can certainly be made for a couple other fighters out there. But when you call it "GOAT hype" like you did then you obviously have something against him. It is not "hype" it is facts. Whether those facts add up to him being the best ever in your mind or not does not matter. Hype is something that is not real, and Fedor's greatness is real. (Along with Silva and POSSIBLY GSP as well).

The reason why it sometimes does seem like hype is because in so many fights he goes swinging for the fences and it feels like he 'got lucky'. Not I know that isn't the case- both him and Wanderlei Silva smashed too many dudes to say they weren't brilliant fighters...but the way they fight isn't that untouchable way like Silva or GSP. I think that's part of the reason people love him- because he is a very exciting fighter. But I don't know- I can't watch Fedor fight and think "wow...I am watching the best mixed martial arts technique ever...I am in the presence of the greatest of all time". And like I say I'm not a hater, just a realist. Fedor is in my top 5 FAVOURITE fighters of all time.

Can there be a GOAT who hasn't fought in the UFC? I'm not being rhetorical, just opening it up to discussion. IMO I want my GOAT to have fought in both Pride and UFC to be considered this eras goat

tbh i do hate ONE fighter, thats Frankie Edgar, crying little bitch thinks he deserves a rematch when he got his ass handed to him.

Nah, not even close. Jones puts on exciting fights and gives the fans what they paid for; Anderson Silva danced around in 3 of his fights that people paid for. :|

It does not matter where you fought, but who you fought. Fedor has beaten more UFC Champions than any other fighter ever.

Yeah plus Anderson got beat in Pride... so how does that help his case? When Fedor was in Pride they were by far the better HW division.

This makes no sense to me... So, what you're saying is that anyone can do anything they want and I'm not allowed to form an opinion on their character unless it was done directly to me???? That's pretty much what I gather from that... If there is one guy that justifies the hate he gets..it's Chael. And he loves the hate.. And how is it not the business of the fans if he's cheating in a sport that they're paying to watch?

Love ya mike..but disagree... Being named the GOAT is ALL about hype. Yes, a few rational mma fans make arguments for whoever based on facts... But, obviously Fedor has been hyped up as a god more than any other mma fighter ever...and we all have seen that he is in fact a human.. I think you're reading in to his statement way too much... The whole hypothetical argument about the GOAT, p4p etc, is all about hype and popularity. All the facts add up to is that Fedor was an unquestionably great fighter in his prime...add in the hype, mystique, fighting spirit, david vs Goliath etc...(AKA - hype) then you have your GOAT.

Fedor's style has regressed in the recent years from controlled aggression to utter chaos. The reason why I myself feel he is the GOAT is several reasons beyond records. The fact that his fighting prime was spent training in a school gym/playground in bumfuck nowehere where his primary training partners are absolute nobodies. Then to see this pudgy guy go out and throw down standing s=with strikers and grappl;ing with grapplers who are on average much biger than him and remaining undefeated for 10 years... For someone to do this is true greatness. I feel there are more techniqual fighters and some who may amase better records and some who I'd be much more confident betting money on nowadays but what he has done and how he has done it is unrivaled in the sport.
