Cain on JDS loss: I don't want to be in that position again

"I'm a realist. I knew I wasn't going to go through my career undefeated. That's how this sport is. People lose. Even the best guys lose. I knew as soon as it was over, I had to pick myself back up and keep going forward. I do have some extra motivation now, for sure, but I wish that for that night things had gone differently and that the fans had gotten the fight they came to see. Ultimately, I let myself down. I don't ever want that to happen, and not for Fox or anything else. I want to go out there and win. Stuff happens. I get that, but I definitely wasn't happy with my performance. What it comes down to it, I don't want to be in that position again."

We're going to see a different Velasquez because of the defeat. But is he gonna be like Lytle after Serra 1, or GSP after Serra 1?

Cain is a strong person, he will bounce back and be better than ever.

I see Cain getting fucked up still. I dont see him giving too much trouble to JDS or REEM.

Yep, he will revert back to his wrassling, like when Cheick caught him. He "shouldn't" have any problem taking down Mir and grounding him out, BUT Who knows, Mir is such a smart fighter and improves with every fight.

I don't think he'll become a boring wrestler he likes to finish fights too much

146 has the potential to be the best UFC event of all time, where cowards are crushed and heros are made

How can you not like Cain.

He's such a nice, humble guy. It sucks that he lost his title, but at least he lost it to an equally humble guy. I hope he makes a good comeback run and gets a title shot quickly.

meh

you speak like jds is the first legit fighter cain has fought, at this level all of cains wins are legit, losing to jds is no shame in there...

what he is talking about is that cain will learn from his mistakes and try to continue to improve and evolve as a fighter dont be daft.

then he should have said he'll come back more focussed than ever and hungrier.
not "better" than ever.

sure, his wins are legit.
no denying that, and impressive as hell also.
but, if the division is so deep, how'd he avoid all the top guys?
that's what i wonder.
how is it that both he and junior are able to rise through the ufc ranks undefeated at the same time and avoid each other?

junior fought yvel, crocop, gonzaga, nelson, carwin, werdum.
cain had kongo, rothwell, nog.
i don't think their competition is even comparable.

first off i dont even like cain as a fighter, and i love jds and bet money on that fight because i thought jds would do what he did...

both guys had different roads to a title, some take the long hard road, others get a different path, not too much else to say about it.

the "better than ever" comment is highly subjective and is not framed in some sort of paradigm, lets not play semantics i know exactly what he meant when he said that...
