Ghita/Reem - who wins in K1?

Was just thinking about the propable re-birth of K1..and was talking to my buddy about it.. He thinks Reem would win via comic book hero muscle... I think Ghita takes it.

Reem's pretty good at defending his jaw, but I still think his heart is very questionable when/if things over don't go his way. I also think Ghita would chop him down and finish him w/leg kicks if Reem stayed turtled up and didn't get aggressive. Would be an amazing fight.. Over the last couple years Ghita has really impressed me, and he's looking a lot bigger and more cut than he used to be... Fucking tree trunks for legs and he's much more willing to take risks, can take shot, and won't quit. I think Ghita takes it 8/10 times easy..

We're all well aware of what Overeem can do...and I like him well enough, he's an entertaining fighter.. But, I'm one of the ppl who doesn't give him the credit generally garnered for winning the gp. I think he had a fucking cake walk through it (relatively speaking) based on match ups/injuries.

What say you?

Unfortunately i've never seen a single Daniel Ghita fight and know next to nothing about Kickboxing so i can't offer much insight on the subject. But based on that highlight, Ghita throws a thousand more kicks in general per fight then Reem and if he can keep him at bay with leg kicks, Reem would be in for a long night.

I have to disagree, Ghita is not a headhunter and his defense is too sound, and he's strong enough physically not to get pushed around by Reem. I think he would leg kick the shit out of Reem and use the jab effectively to a decision.

i think reem by Split decision. using his forearm guard to defend and counter effectively. i would love to see it, but sadly once you fight in the UFC you cant fight anywhere else until your contract expires.

Possible of course...but I just don't see it.. Reem really doesn't move that well.. I think he'd take leg kick after leg kick, and he wouldn't like it. ...Which is how Ghita generally softens guys up, then goes for the kill whether it's more leg kicks or shots to the dome. I see Reem dropping his hands, or getting overly aggressive because of the brutality his legs would be taking...and then someone's going to sleep or quitting. Reem is the only of the 2 that I've seen quit, and Ghita is a tough sob.

11 of Ghita's last 12 wins have been by stoppage.. The Ghita I very first saw..I wouldn't see finishing Reem or winning, but he looks to me to be in much better shape than he was and much stronger... I would not be surprised at all if he takes over when K1 gets going again.. W/Semmy fading (IMO), Aerts is old balls, Saki moving towards MMA (I'd love to see them fight again), Badhr is still gonna try to box, right? I don't think Reem is the best just cuz he won the last GP..beating two guys he outweighed by a shit ton, a 3rd that he outweighed by a lot (not a shit ton)...and he was old as shit. Saki gave him a great fight w/one fucking hand.. Reem always looks really impressive when he wins...but as hilarious as it sounds, he can be bullied, and I think Ghita would make him quit.

I don't follow K1 like I do mma, but I haven't seen anyone else w/his skills/power/toughness outside of Hari. Like I said, it's no guarantee of course...those are a couple big motherfuckers that have some serious power.. It'd have to be a pretty tentative fight to not be a finish me thinks..

Tis true, and is sad... I loved it when Reem was bouncing back and forth...I could give a fuck whether he's defending his SF belt as long as he's fighting in one or the other 3-4 times a year.

One thing you gotta explain that I've never understood.... You see him winning by SD? How is that? Why wouldn't you just pick him in a "close" or "competitive" fight..? An SD is a mistake by one of the judges... I never understood that. The only way I could ever understand that prediction is if it was some kind of long odds bet in vegas and that was a weird option..

And how will he use his forearm guard against the massive leg kicks that Ghita kills ppl with? That confuses me as well.. :mrgreen:

The reem will not fight in K1 again, if he continues to do well in the ufc. We will have to see how he does after JDS beats him.

That's a tough one to call. Ghita has been looking great lately. I think if AO were able to impose his game, he could take it, but if not, Ghita might tear him up. It's a tossup in my opinion. Ghita is no smaller than AO, so he can't just ragdoll him.

I agree, I think Ghita takes it. He is agrressive yet smart with his striking, Kind of like Shogun when he beat down the reem.. The agression was too much for him, no way reem pushed ghita around.

Well i think it would honestly be alot closer than a UD. Ghita honestly has alot of power, and like you said his legkicks are lethal. to me it would be one of those back and forth fights. I think the reem's counter striking is good, but against people his size (at least in K-1) he's not able to deal that much damage. He usually is best when he is countering on the inside, or when he has you in the clinch, and since he cant full on muay thai clinch it leaves him only throwing counter hooks and single shot leg kicks, i think Ghita would spend most of the rounds doubling up the leg kicks like in the saki fight and banging to the body. It would probably be Ubereems toughest fight in K-1. (next to the Spong fight)
