I need some advice on my striking

Postby Tek9 » Fri Sep 03, 2010 10:39 pm

I am a decent striker, but my power relies on my ground game. I am starting to fight harder opponents such as professional boxers, and very good street fighters. They all like to fight bare knuckle though. To hold up with them I need to increase my striking. I shadow box frequently, and I use a lot of technique, but I would like to know some techniques for increasing KO power, and speed. I am very fast as-well.

READ. Read Bruce Le's "Jeet Kune Do". Look for tutorial books on boxing.

Power is derived from the ground up. It is transferred from your feet, through your legs, through your core, or midsection, and is finally expressed in your strike of choice. There is a lot of technique involved in a perfect strike, the mechanics and timing must be learned and practiced. Study material on the mechanics and techniques of striking.

For instance, if you land a perfect right straight on a heavybag, you should feel your calf muscle on your rear leg powering into it (if you are a conventional stance, the opposite applies for a lefty). Too much to tell you here, just read about it.
