Both cerrone and miller were 1 fight away from a shot and Nate gave them both the beating of their careers. Pettis looked like shit against guida, wrestled a win over mid tier Stephens, and got a flash ko at the beginning of the fight against lauzon which is his only impressive UFC win

Cerrone was on a big win streak but his biggest win was probably Siver who was possibly his only top ten win... I could be wrong tho and Miller your right has only lost to Maynard, Edgar and the current champ but in all honesty his previous wins haven't been against the highest standard of fighter...again just my opinion, then again most ranking systems are flawed as people rank the fighters they like more above others etc just look at Aoki the dude keeps fighting what others call "cans" but is still considered top 5 in most rankings or there abouts, I think that we need to see Pettis VS Diaz these are the two closest to title contention and probably the most deserving, plus pettis really should have had a title shot a lot earlier being the last WEC with it being the "title unification" if you like

you have good arguments for pettis but i could say the same things for nate. stephens has never had a big win, and joe's biggest win was guillard, who miller also beat. i think they just have a similar streak except nates is longer and against slightly tougher comp. i would like to see them fight next, but i'd rather they both fight for the belt which means one would have to take another fight, and the way i see it it should be pettis who has to take another fight, so he could get a better streak going, maybe fight the winner of guida/maynard

Diaz has 16 UFC fights. Pettis has 3 and he is 2-1 out of those..

Just because a fighter has more UFC fights doesn't mean he is more deserving of a title shot WEC records may not count in your opinion but Pettis is the last fighter to beat the current LW champ.
