Cmon Timber, he already explained he just wanted to do it so he could say he had.... It's grown under cfl's, and I don't see anything wrong with it outside of that... It's simply not possible to grow heavy plants under weak light like that... I wouldn't call it sad looking....considering the light it was grown under the plant is very healthy actually.

PLANT OF THE DAY = CHEMO

Got this strain in BC when I was like a soph. in college I think...took a spring break trip to to there and seattle w/my girl at the time, bought 10 strains. The guy I bought most of them from was this cool old fuck that had this little set up in the back of the store. We sat down on couches and ate candy until the ppl ahead of us were done. Then we sit down with this guy, he breaks off a nugget of a 12" cola of silver haze, rolls up a big ol fatty while we're chatting, lights it, and then gives it to us for us to smoke... Was awesome. It was a good thing I had done my research, knew what strains I wanted, and knew what questions to ask, cuz I was semi-retarded from that joint. So, I think I bought like 6 kinds from him based on what I wanted and his recommendations based on what type of genetics I was looking for. We also asked him if he knew where to get any smoke, and he said go to the hostel about a block away and stand by the front door. Sure enough, some dude had 3 kinds to choose from, I bout an 8th for $30 from him, and then we went to a cafe that was next to the seed store and smoked for a while and ate food. O, and one other funny thing...the seeds came in 10's in these little clear vials, and my girl at the time stuffed them in her cooter to get back across the border. LOL. We had to smoke our whole 8th, so I knew we'd be retarded crossing the border...they questioned us, they knew we were high, but they didn't search us and we went on our way.

Here is one of my fave strains that we got.. THis is organic-soil grown CHEMO. The story is that CHEMO was developed by the Canadian government in the 70's for chemo-therapy patients. All I know is that it was very good shit, and it had a kind of blue color to it, very few hairs, and a great sweet flavor. Nice high, but it had higher levels of cannabinoids and lower levels of thc...which is what you want if you are a chemo patient. I was a very relaxing, not too over the top high. Very enjoyable smoke.

Thanks! And, yeah, that can happen with heavy plants. When creating a strain like big bud over generations of crossing and selecting for whatever your goal is...in that case, big buds, it's going to make issues like that more likely to come up. It's basically you taking the place of mother nature and her natural selection. You cross two plants, grow 10 or 100 or 1000+ from seed, and then select the ones that have what you're looking for...then you cross those back to each other, rinse repeat generation after generation until you have a stable strain that you can count on. Your first cross is going to produce seeds that vary because some will have more of the "father's" genes, while some have more of the "mother's" genes. If you do this generation after generation you are able to gradually reduce the diversity and create a stable strain. Of course cuttings are genetically identical to the mother plant, as are hermaphrodite seeds because they only have genetics from the one "mother" plant.

There are other factors involved with stems breaking... If your plant didn't have enough light while it was veg'ing and has a lot of distance between nodes or bud sites because of the plant "stretching" for that light, it will make the stems weaker and more likely to break. That's one good thing about growing under metal halide while veg'ing, it really helps to keep the nodes from stretching and keeps the plant more compact. Other things you can do....you can top the plant to take away its apical dominance and instead of the plant putting its energy in to one single apical meristem (1 main cola), it will grow 2-4 or more main colas depending on how you manipulate it. You won't have the main, huge cola, but depending on the genetics of the strain you can actually produce more from the same size plant...it just depends. Some plants do better with a main cola, some should be topped. Topping them also keeps them shorter and wider of course. I like to top them, and then also trim off all the little shit from the base so you they go in to flowering all the bud sites are within 6-8" of the top of the plant. That way the plant is putting its energy in to flowers that are getting the optimal amount of light, and you can spread the surface area out. Ideally you want to have your entire flowering area with plants of the same height spread out across the space the light provides.

There is also a process of actually crush the stems of the veg'ing plants about 2 weeks before they go in to flower...they are very resilient and they come back and the stems grow thicker. I don't have too much experience with this process, but supposedly it produces more weight.. I might explain that later..but I'm done typing right now.

I've done most of my damage in Kansas, where I grew up and went to college....which definitely does NOT have medical... I now live in Arizona. We just passed the medical, but it's a fucking joke and there's a retarded amount of red tape... I feel like you're just adding your name to a list by getting a card, so I don't have one...want to see what happens over the next couple years. I got busted for a couple grams and a dui (.086 - thought I was fine) a little over a year ago...so I did my diversion, removed all my plants from my house and am now more of a "consultant" when it comes to that stuff. So far it's been just a bunch of fucking bullshit with the state government saying FUCK YOU to what the ppl voted for, and of course we have to worry about the feds still. It's fucked. And now that I've used my diversion for weed, if I get caught with ANYTHING, be it a seed, stem, pipe, it's a fucking FELONY here. Which is just insane....I'm a productive member of society, I work my ass off, pay my taxes.....the whole dui/possession thing created some big problems and major hurdles in my life... Sucks ass.

It does suck...but I've always had the attitude that I'll do what I want as far as growing (within reason and keeping plant numbers low), until I get caught.

I of course understood the risk I was taking and the possible consequences. Doesn't mean I agree with it, but I'm not a dumb ass and I'm not going to throw my life away by doing something that I think should be allowed but is not. I really do love the plants...I love the plants and growing them more than smoking them. I can only hope that one day I'm in a position that I can legally grow...and make a living off of it..that would be amazing. I could do it now and have it be semi-legal...but the gray area sucks, and honestly after removing everything from my house it was a load off.. You never quite sleep the same and you're not as comfortable in your own home when you have something like that... It's the sad reality of the time and place that we live. And the reasoning behind it is so fucked......

I really believe that one day we will look back at these times and be able to objectively see that America and its policies have created the drug problems that it has, America has created an unnecessary war on drugs that has costs thousands upon thousands lives, Mexico has suffered the most because of it... It's well known that locking ppl up does not work, and only prepetuates the problem further. Plenty of other countries with policies of treatment ILO incarceration have PROVEN this. Part of it is ignorance, part of it is that the ppl that have the big $$ (pharm companies for example) are able to control the policies and laws of his country as well as strongly influence the opinions of the ignorant masses. It really is sad...I just hope ppl wake up before too many more lives are destroyed, and before we go fucking broke enforcing our policies....probably too late for that.

If ppl will open up, realize and accept these un-arguable realities it will hopefully change. My parents are conservative republicans, both of my parents are very smart and are both CPA's (accountants). I have discussed this with them and I have actually gotten both of them to openly agree with me and not just "understand what I'm saying." Having that discussion and debate, and the results from it were a big thing for me.. I'm not ashamed of who I am and the choices that I make, and I'm not looking to hide who I am from the ppl I care about the most. So getting past that with them was a big thing..
