this is really all i was looking for from all this hate i saw in here for jones when i originally posted. i just wanted people to explain where all their hate for him was coming from. cause nobody seems to have any valid reasons for it.

The only thing iv heard that makes any sense is ppl are mad because he signed his autograph"Jon Jones 2011 Champ" right before he fought shogun. Seems pretty minor to me, but i guess thats enough to hate these days.

You say he was afraid of rampages punches. This is where i must give you one of these . Pretend you were a fighter with a 12inch reach advantage, and you were facing rampage for the damn title. You're tellin me you would not relinquish your reach advantage to show ppl you weren't scared of his punches. Perhaps he shouldv pulled a rocky when he fought clubber lang and just let page T-off on him. You know, then he wouldnt be such a punk and all.

Also, i think you're mistaking "running" for "staying out of range and landing solid shots from a distance." I hope you never land a job giving gameplans for fighters. That guy would hate you

Im a Jones hater, I dont like his attitude. Everytime I see an interview he acts all respectful, but he always manages to get some sort of dig into his opponent, or mention something to big himself up. Jones fans dont see this as disrespectful, they see this as confidence. This is where opinions will differ.
GSP is a very respectful guy, in many interviews he has been egged on to disrespect his opponent and potential opponents and never rises to the challenge.

Jones has amazing potential, the skills he has learned in such a short period of time is amazing, but he is not the God that people are making him out to be. I still see plenty of room for improvement, and Rampage proved that Jones's wrestling isnt as superior as people were making out to be. Without that reach advantage jones is just another good fighter. He used this advantage in the fight, and rightly so, but whenever Rampage engaged (not enough in my opinion) He ran, did whatever he could to get out of the way, He was afraid of Rampages power. Dont make excuses when people were on here before bitching about Machida staying on the outside.

This is my opinion, u dont have to agree, i'm not asking u to, or anyone else. I have yet to be impressed by Jones. He can preach the Jackson camp Yoda bullshit all he wants, but he is too cocky to really pull it off. GSP exudes respect and practices what he preaches. Jones is too young and too caught up in the hype to pull this off.

Lets see better striker than Page, more technical, better TDD, wayyyy better grappler, black belt in BJJ, good kicks. Machida is one of the best counter punchers and Jones has wild strikes. Don't fool yourself into thinking Machida cannot beat Jones, because he can.

nowhere in this post do you explain how he will smahs him tho. so what machida is good. so was everybody else jones fought. and lol@saying jones has wild strikes, his strikes look pretty technical to me. but when you say smash i assume you mean like how jones SMASHED shogun. cause if you're talking about that kind of smash then again i say lol and good day to you sir.

I dont know about the smash thing unless he means eventually get a tko or win a decision,But Machida does have better technique than both page and Jones and prolly more speed than Page so as long as he could avoid any takedowns(machida does have good wrestling) he has a chance.
Machida would also use leg kicks Im sure to help nullify Jones reach advantage.

Throwing leg kicks against a good wrestler isnt the best idea. Especially when Machida would be leaving himself open for a counter straight. Check the Shogun/Jones fight and you'll see Shogun attempt a low kick and eat a straight left that sent him backwards. Bottom line if Machida is in range to kick Jones, then Jones is damn sure in range to strike back. His reach, and more importantly how he uses it, is special.

Machida does have good tdd. However, he has never defended a take down from someone as skilled as Jones. Remember Rashad didnt even attempt a td. Sok went 2 for 4 on td attempts against Machida. Sok got subbed, but his top game isnt even in the same ballpark as Jones. Point being Jones could eventually get the fight to the ground. Once there it could be all over.

I see Jones being to quick for Rampage to fully handle. First round i see alot of dancing on the feet, Jones peppering Rampage with leg kicks and jabs... Jones trying a couple fancy spinning moves and getting caught with a Rampage hook. Jones take Rampage down at the end of the round. Round 2, Jones starts throwing flying knees spinning back kicks and gets Rampage of balance and gets an awesome takedown. Hits Rampage with some elbows as he gets to his feet. Rampage catches Jones with a nice left hook but is unable to follow it up do to the speed of Jones. Round 3 Jones cracks Rampage with a strong knee off the get go, Rampage falls into the cage trys to clinch but is met with a series of blows that finish the fight.

i was a little off, my round 1 and 2 were on except for the takedowns, round 3 didnt go the way i had planned but either way i picked the winner

Rampage got owned like a little bitch. Anyone who thinks that JBJ is a brash a-hole would be correct. All these guys are. You think GSP never talks shit? Maybe not on camera for his boss and the world to see but he's a fighter. Fighters are competition hungry crazy mofos! You dont get into this type of business being some nice, polite, pencil pushing geek. The people you all see in interviews and web clips are not the people these guys REALLY are. Watch the fights, judge the skills, enjoy the drama, dont look so deep for reasons to hate. This is entertainment. I think the hype has been proven and Jones is legit. He knocked off 2 really big names now and did with style and solid game-plans. The guy HAS been getting egged on by the best shit starter in the business for a while now. Get any one of you in the same position with a cocky bastard (Page) at your place of business and see if you dont "Rise to the occasion" and give some back.

I dont see a great matchup for JBJ now other then Anderson. He's smart, long limbed and unorthodox. He makes most of the good guys in his division and others look slow one one dimensional. We all know they aren't but he sure makes it seem that way.

imo spider would beat jones. wasnt sure before that fight but i saw plenty of holes in jones game. running away, front downward knee kicks (should be illegal and knees to a grounded opponent should be legal!), sticking his fingers in peoples eyes to paw, holding the mouth and nose, and tossing guys after the bell. look all of these are debatable but jones does them all. is obvious he doesnt have one punch power so he makes up for it by fighting a dirty fight on his terms. jackson is a great game planner for non exciting wins. that fight was not that great and jones could have been beat by a better fighter. i give rashad a chance. i dont seeing machida getting a w over jones like many.

keys to beating jones
1 ) head movement
2 ) check kicks
3 ) kick him back unpredicatbly
4 ) throw punches in combinations
5 ) get in his head (rampage clearly was but just wasnt good enough to do anything)
6 ) take the fight in later rounds ( gassed in bonnar, shogun, and jackson pretty quick)
7 ) take his legs away from him (foot stomps,knees on the cage,leg kicks, etc) he needs burst to be effective
8 ) out box him (his boxing is shit)

While he was dominated in the stand up, Rampage's wrestling was excellent last night..We've never seen anybody defend Jone's TD's and grappling like that before...

It will be a huge challenge for anybody to beat Jones's reach advantage....I'm pretty sure Rasahd and Machida will get their chances at him too so can't wait to see how those fights go..Rashad in particular considering he has spent so much time training with him...

i have seen the far far majority if people who love mma have almost ZERO racial bias. imo jones beat couple of cans, a couple of washed up semi-legends, and a hurt legend. he doesnt have k/o power per se. i bet he continues to run from engagement throughout his career. stop the racism claims and enjoy the fights.... as an mma fan and judging fights, the henderson v fedor was much higher quality and exciting (to me this isnt debatable) . page is way too one dimensional and tentative. jones is a runner, mouthy, and border line dirty.

I thought it was an excellent fight......after seeing the fight it is obvious that the only way to beat Bones is to take chances, take the fight right at him, pressure the fuck outta him.
