And did you know what happened after that? Saki was easy prey for Reem because of the damage Ghita's kicks did. Have a look at what Ghita did to Zimmerman. Absolutely brutal.

Well Saki doesn't suck, either, he's not an easy out for anyone. I also just watched what Ghita did to Gerges and.... Wow, that was brutal.

I agree. I never alluded that Saki sucked either. I just think everything Saki did to Ghita, Overeem would do with more volume, power and better combos.

Can I just say that I knew this conversation was going to lead to a Saki comparison before it even happened lol .

Here's what I think. I believe both Saki and Ghita would beat Overeem, granted it was outside the tournament format.

Saki obviously came into their fight injured and that severely hampered his arsenal. However, the speed disparity was obvious and Saki was doing quite well with just one functional arm (left). Given Reem's K-1 defense style of blocking with both forearms, I think that rematch would favour Saki because he'd be able to rip combos on Reem's body and get in and out, looking to avoid knees.

In that same tournament, we all look at the Saki - Ghita fight and assume it was just a regular victory for Gokhan. The fight was actually extremely close. When I first watched it, I had Ghita up after 2 rounds. Saki definitely pulled it off in the extra round but Ghita had several dominant moments in the fight. He's put on a ton of muscle a-la recent Badr Hari transformation, and it payed off in his last fight with a brutal knockout. Overeem wouldn't be able to mandhandle him like he can do to every single kickboxer except Schilt.

I believe Ghita- Overeem would go something like Ghita- Saki, except insert a fighter in Overeem who's slower, and doesn't take as well to damage. With Ghita's technical, crisp low kicks and body kicks, I'm pretty certain he'd TKO Alistair or easily take a decision.

Ghita had a cold coming into the tourney. Even then, I thought he won the first two rounds against Saki.

I think in kickboxing Alistair beats Saki again. Mainly because of how much more powerful Alistair is.

Whereas Daniel imo has enough power in his hands to put Alistair on queer street.

Great analysis, and I agree. Ghita was definitely winning the first half of the Saki fight until Saki kicked it into a higher gear late. I also agree Ghita looked huge and a lot more built up in the Gerges fight and the whole time it looked like Gerges was just a sitting duck. That's one thing Ghita has going for him, he's absolutely huge.

Well yeah, but Badr when he's at his best can totally run guys over sometimes, Saki was one of those guys. I think Badr really wanted to win that one, being his last kickboxing match for the forseeable future.

That's just crazy talk...

Power is the only thing that holds remotely true there... No fucking way Overeem out works Saki....no fucking way... And better combos? Hell no! Saki throws all kinds of combos and finishes them w/brutal kicks... Reem got a taste of his ridiculous spinning hook kick too...he rocked him twice w/hook kicks and once w/a left handed combo. The first kick should have been knock down IMO. Hell, Saki out worked and threw more combos with one fucking arm when him and Reem fought... Saki was winning that first round EASILY until reem kicked him in the broken arm...hardly a fair fight.

Who knows what happens if Saki and Reem fight again, but that night...if Saki comes in healthy, he wins that fight.

I agree, very good breakdown. Seeing that video, it's clear Saki was able to land left hands basically at will, if he could've put some rights in there, Reem would have been in serious trouble. So why is Saki not in this conversation, of who will win this year? Is he not participating?

Not sure, he very well may be... I'm a big fan of his too, he's a very exciting fighter, and always throws to kill... But, isn't he focusing more on MMA at the moment? He can certainly be brought in to the conversation, but I just made the thread after watching the Ghita HL on ZP's website...I've been watching all his fights on HDNET, and to me he's look more dangerous than ever. I think he'd match up very well with Overeem, so was just curious to see what people thought.

And yeah, everyone talks about Reem's incredible defense, but Saki was picking hiim apart in that fight....with one hand no less...pretty impressive. I honestly think either Ghita or Saki probably beat Reem if they come in 100%... And you can see clearly in that fight, Reem wouldn't be able to do shit about Ghita's massive kicks.

Yeah, both the hook kicks visibly effected him, and I have a feeling Ghita, now with the hands to match his devastating kicks, would land some huge shots on Reem. Reem also has a reputation of being a quitter, and I doubt he could take the punishment Saki did and keep going, let alone come back to win. Saki showed that night he's got Duke Nukem brand Balls of Steel.

^^^ I've always thought of Saki as the Fedor of kickboxing. Of course there are obvious differences, but they're both smaller HW's, posess intense speed and technique, they have a strong will and an attack-first style.
