First off Dana doesn't know anything about soccer(football) obviously, and second he screwed himself because Brazil's national sport is soccer, they got a freaking soccer ball in their flag for crying out loud and the whole world watches soccer it's the biggest sport in the world by far.

people who think that soccer is easy have obviously never played it at a high level or has tried to play against a high level player. people who say soccer is an easy sport are uneducated and borderline retarded.

Soccer is the biggest sport in the world. I doubt he made a ripple with that comment.

You watch muaythai/boxing? Who are you favourites? Who do you think is GOAT? I don't see many boxing fans on here, and even less MT fans... :|

Buakaw is my favorite as well as considered the goat for me. If you go in the boxing/kickboxing/k1 forum its by far dominated by boxing threads and sadly not much muaythai but i still get daily updates on thaifight on facebook which is the org i will watch over the others and has bigger fights.

K1 GP time is always exciting on here though.

Unfortunately for some reason Soccer players act like such little bitchy cunts..

They flop and flail all over the place trying to make the ref call a foul... It really is disgusting and pathetic... That is seriously the only reason I hate it.

May seem wierd to hate a sport because of that one aspect but god damn..... these guys flop SO MUCH!! Lamest fucken sport ever because the men who play it are little bitches... not all of them of course.. But come on we have all seen the collections of vids and highlights...

If you get fouled or knocked down.... GET UP YOU LITTLE PUSSY! Jump UP oFF ThE gROUND AND RESUME pLAY LIKE A FUCKEN MAN!!!

Really ? that is the depth or your arguments  Please don't embarrass your self any further
Your arguments is really remarkable cleansed of any insight or knowledge of the sport whatsoever, and i don't even follow soccer but that is obvious from the get go

Do I really need more depth to my argument...? I don't claim to have any insight on that sport other then the fact that I have attempted to watch it plenty of times... Especially when the world cup comes on because I can basically appreciate the skill it takes to compete in any sport... and good sporting competition is fun to watch.

Flailing around like a ninny every time someone smacks you... or even worse... when someone isn't even close to touching you is disgusting and really does turn me off the sport.... I don't need to explain anything past that... other people clearly share the view.

I understand perfectly WHY they do that... It gives them an advantage if the other team gets a foul... DUH... That just makes it even more lame and pathetic...

I even made sure I prefaced my views by saying it requires lots of Athleticism and skill to play it properly....

The fact remains that flailing is more prevalent in soccer then any other sport I have witnessed.

In conclusion... go fuck yourself... I am not embarrassed by expressing my views. (which are clearly accurate)

Edit: and yes, you can (loosely...very loosely) compare it to some stuff you see in MMA (fighters complaining to refs wanting to get stood up, or pretending a nut shot was worse then it really was, or saying you got poked in the eye)... BUT THAT STUFF IS LAME TOO! Where is the fucking honor in that!? Seriously fuck that shit.... I will immediately be turned off a fighter if I see behavior like that...

I don't know if I would be as upset as divineaage, but I don't think it takes a lot of "depth" to see that the flops are a strategy to get a call. The rest of his post was just a judgement call saying that flopping was lame. If anyone is to be embarrassed here, it should be Edgardo for jumping on an opinion based comment and treating it as though it were a factual claim. If someone tells me they like cyan peppers, you won't see me attack their preferences by hollering about knowledge and insight, but then again I have an IQ.

This "soccer players are pussies" argument really gets to me some times. Yes there ARE a bunch of videos online that show soccer players going down , faking injuries ...to get an advantage. But it happens in EVERY SPORT. There's a whole bunch of flops in the NBA as well. I dont see any "Basketball players are pussies" arguments though

Shit, even in CONTACT sports, where you're SUPPOSED to get hit, people still fake shit to get the upper hand. B.Hopkins in Boxing, and J.Koscheck in MMA. Face it, flops happen in every sport. It's dirty, it's disgusting, it's sad...but "soccer" isnt the only sport that has it.

Soccer is one of the sports you need the most talent and skill. Especially if you compare to MMA? there is no comparison... In MMA if you're 20 and you train for 3-5 years, you are world class. In soccer if you start training at 20 you'll never get anywhere because you're already 15 years behind everyone else. We have athletes in MMA that started training at 30+ and became world champions. In soccer the level of skill and talent is so high that if you don't start training professionally at 5-10 years old then you have no chance.

I stop paying attention to Dana after he called Fedor untalented. Anyway, maybe we should ask Dana to run for 45 minutes. I love Soccer and its the number one game in the world.

counterstrike wrote:Soccer (or as Euro's say.. Football) has problems in North America because of one thing:

Warrior's Honour.

Let me explain.

Now, I've played soccer competitively in the past, and play some recreational ball from time to time now. And Dana is wrong-- it takes plenty of skill and athleticism. You have to have a hell of a gas tank to run around that massive field for 90 minutes without shifts.

That being said, soccer has a big image problem. Soccer culture needs to change if he wants to truly catch on in North America, because in both United States and Canada, the ethos valued in sports is what I call "warrior's honour", that is, you strive to be tough and honourable. You strive to win, and are expected to play hurt or sacrifice your body for your team.

Think of American football players playing with wrapped ankles. Hockey players playing without teeth, or broken noses.

Soccer (football) is lacking in that kind of warriors honour in certain countries. The way it is played in England, for example, or even in the U.S. MLS league, is not so bad. But in Europe and in other places... the diving, the faking, the dramatic over-reaction to tiny amounts of contact is common and endemic.

That kind of fakery is entirely repulsive to North American fans. And why this satirical commercial seems so true and funny:

Just because guys arent losing teeth and breaking limbs doesnt make it any less of a sport. Infact 90% of sports dont involve hardcore physical contact. Tennis is huge in the states yet there is no real huge physical contact at all. Same with Golf and Nascar to a degree.

I think its just not in our culture in school we go through football, wrestling, baseball even basketball but really some to none time is spent on soccer. And knowing that your countrty blows at soccer is a pretty big deterant from pursueing a career in it

and for the record only in america.....only the american culture calls a sport where 99% of it is played with hands and arms FOOTBALL.....how can american football really be called FOOTball wtf? As germans we call soccer Foosball which means football in translation. It would be like calling soccer Handball becuse the odd time there's a throwin yet 99% of it is played with your feet....

Funny americans.....

soccer is pretty boring to watch, but fun as hell to play. only time i can really sit through and watch a soccer game is during the world cup, euro cup, or when the U.S. and Mexico play.

Since he said it in a Canadian press confrence im sure it was to hype up hockey and kiss the locals ass. I wonder when he goes to brazil he will definetly be asked about Football (soccer) (Maybe not about this comment but just about football and the athletes i mean ITS BRAZIL) i wonder if he will flip flop and say great things or stick to his guns and call it a pussy sport?
